Event #1
Friday – September 10
Proms at Menwith Hill
Dress – Civilian, business casual
Depart Montpellier coach park, Harrogate, 5:15 p.m.
Depart Menwith @ 10:30 p.m.
(pub closing time in days of old)

(Montpellier coach park is NOT the bus station. It is located on the street, just across the traffic
circle that is in front of the Crown Hotel. Street coordinates are Esplanade and St. Mary’s

This is a ticketed event. The association has chartered two buses to take all 70 of you out to the Hill and bring you back
to Harrogate. DRIVING IS NOT RECOMMENDED, DISCOURAGED EVEN! There’s gonna be a big crowd of locals there and parking is going to be a real frustration.

So here’s the deal. We have put together a package that includes transportation to Menwith and return on both Friday evening and the Saturday morning walk-around and includes your ticket to the Proms – all for just £20 each. That will pay for the bus on both days, the driver’s tip, the Proms and help us recover our expenses for the anniversary event at the Crown Hotel on the 15th.

One-way taxi fare out to the Hill runs more than £12, so I think we you can save quite a bit. We’ll collect all money on the bus, -- bloke money, please.

Event #2
Saturday - September 11
Menwith walk-around
Civilian Dress – business casual/casual
Depart Montpellier coach park, Harrogate, 9:30 a.m.
Depart Menwith @ Noon

We’ll probably break up into smaller groups that will then be escorted around the base – see just about anything you like except the inside of the Ops building. No lunch, Club’s closed on Saturdays.

Event #3
Sunday – September 12
Church Service
Civilian Dress – Business casual, with jackets/sports coat, please
Military Dress – Class “A” uniform.
St. Peter’s Church – 11 a.m.

We all walked by St. Peter’s, the big church in the town center but I don’t recall anyone actually going inside. Rev. Tony Shepherd has put together a special service for us, including the Menwith Hymn, and other spiritual things.

We do hope you will support this event. We have a
memorial service at each reunion and this won’t be much different, perhaps a bit more formal.

The Mayor of Harrogate and top brass at Menwith are committed to attend to show their respect and support for us.

Event #4
Tuesday – September 14
Pub Night at the Alex
Civilian Dress – Casual
Military Dress – Civilian
7:30 p.m. till ??

You can come early and have dinner there. It’s pub-grub, but it is tasty and well prepared. Stick around and reminisce, tell war stories, catch up on all the latest before tomorrow’s big event!

Event #5
Wednesday, September 15 – 10 a.m.
RAF Menwith Hill 50th anniversary celebration
Crown Hotel – Thackwray Room

Civilian Dress – Business casual, with jackets or sports coats please. Official party, suits & ties.
Military Dress – Class “A” uniform.

Coffee and pastries available for early arrivals.

This is what we all came here for.

The event features a star-studded cast of the Harrogate Mayor, the Menwith Hill base Commander, a combined services color guard, anniversary cake cutting and dedication of the new plaque which will be permanently mounted in Menwith chapel, and 70 combined family, friends and veterans – the first to serve at Menwith Hill.

That’s it! We should be done by 11 or 11:30 a.m.

One additional note:

Those of you who wish to make one last pilgrimage to the Hill are invited to a formal flag ceremony at Menwith at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. You are on your own for transportation, lunch at the club if you wish. Let me know early in the week if you think you might want to take this in.
